Hi my name is Glen. I created Well World Computers as a company to repair computers and advise people on computer security. Why Well World Computers? Well, my favourite book is called Midnight at the Well of Souls and its set on a planet called the Well World. So I decided Well World Computers would be my company name.
Q: What does Well World Computers do?
A: I do all forms of software and hardware repairs.
Q: I think my computer is infected with a virus. Can you help?
A: Absolutely. As well as removing viruses I can also get rid of all types of malware including adware and spyware.
Q: I just bought a laptop and want to share my internet connection with my desktop, Is this possible?
A: Yes. A wireless router is the easiest way. If you buy a router but can't fit it, call me. There is no shame in getting an expert to help when you get stuck.
Q: I have a broken MAC can you fix it?
A: No, I only work on PCs.
Q: Do I bring my computer to you?
A: No I come out and repair computers at your home or business. There are some repairs that make it cheaper for you if I take the computer back to my house. For instance when Windows needs to be reinstalled. Although a basic Windows reinstallation can be done in 1 hour there are nearly always drivers which need to be installed. I need to identify the hardware and get the correct drivers to install. I also install basic security such as antivirus, antispyware and a firewall. I will also setup internet connections and email accounts where possible. All this takes time and while I can do it in situ it can be cheaper if I take the computer away. At my house you don't get charged while Windows is installing you only get charged while I am working at the computer. Whereas at your house you get charged for all my time. The same goes for virus and malware removal. Minor infections can be cleared by a couple of hours scanning but there are some more complicated infections which take much more time and investigation to clear properly. If I take the computer back with me you don't get charged for all the scanning time.
I need to add to this that although its cheaper if you bring the computer to me to remove malware it can still take several hours work especially for a badly infected computer or a computer infected with hard to remove malware. Some newer malware make removal extremely difficult requiring multiple scans and manual deletion of registry keys and files. I had one take 5 hours work spread over 12 hours recently but it could easily have been much longer. My hourly rate is extremely reasonable. Much cheaper than any other technician. Why am I so cheap you ask? I have no overheads at all. I work from home and I travel to customers houses to work. My only expense is running my car to get to appointments. Add to that the fact I just started this business and want to get my name known. The more computers I fix the more people will recommend me to others. So for the time being I am happy making a very small charge for my work and getting my name known. What is this hourly rate? You will have to contact me to find out.
